Musicians often claim to represent the sound of their cities. J&B is taking that claim a little more seriously by enlisting DJs and fans across the world to collaborate in the creation of the definitive dance remix for their cities.
Continuing its longstanding mission to start parties in unconventional but responsible ways, J&B is asking whisky drinkers to upload their favourite sounds using Facebook, a special IPhone app and its City Remix website www.startapartyhere.com DJs in global cities like Cape Town, Mexico City and Seoul will take those sounds and create exclusive tracks to be shared with partygoers in massive J&B events taking place in 2012. To gain access to the website log in from one of the participating countries like Belgium.
Those seeking inspiration for their city sounds are invited to check out the specially commissioned J&B track, “City Remix Part 1,” from London-based electronica DJ/producer Russ Chimes. One of this year’s rising stars, Chimes has already worked with legends like Mark Ronson, Booka Shade, Marina & The Diamonds, and Kelis. He’s also hit 2.3 million YouTube plays with his Ellie Goulding remix.
Naturally, no track is complete without a music video. That’s why “City Remix Part 1” is accompanied by a film from Patrick Jean, award-winning director of “Pixels” an all-conquering short that won an almost intimidating number of prizes. Together, Jean and Chimes took the electrifying energy of Hong Kong and transformed it into a track and film for J&B.
Using this as a starting point, an army of music lovers and musicians will create tracks for the world’s party cities, all facilitated by the Effie-winning J&B.
